GENERAL MISSION AND STRUCTURE

The Connecticut State Conference of NAACP Branches is working to build a stronger state conference in strengthening its ability to address more of the issues, concerns and problems existing in our communities.  In order to be successful at this mission, it is necessary for State Conference to expand its volunteers.

Women in the NAACP (WIN) is an official Committee of the NAACP.

The purposes of WIN are:

Ø     To enhance the leadership role of women

Ø     To serve as an advocacy vehicle for social, economic, political, educational, and health

and welfare issues affecting women

Ø     To advocate for the positive development of children

Ø     To support the on-going work of the NAACP and its units

PROGRAM FOCUS

WIN programs and activities are in accordance with the programs and policies of the NAACP.  The WIN programmatic thrust focuses on women and children.  Further, advocacy for empowerment of women in our communities is a centerpiece of WIN program.  WIN’s national theme is “Outstretched Hands and Open Hearts to Women and Children.

WIN was organized by Mrs. Frances Hooks and has historically responded to families in disaster relief areas.  On a national level, WIN is working toward education relief for children in Africa.  WIN offers a medium for women to develop leadership, outreach, and advocacy for civil rights, especially for women.  Won’t you join us in this wonderful mission and plight of the Women in the NAACP, WIN?
