The Norwich NAACP was established in 1963 to continue the work of the National Organization within the state of Connecticut. The Norwich branch believes that the NAACP's goals of equality, justice and civil rights for all people are as timely today as they were when the national organization was founded in 1909.

Our Mission

The NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens of United States and eliminate race prejudice. The NAACP seeks to remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.  This mission is accomplished by seeking the enactment and enforcement of federal, state and local laws securing civil rights, and by informing the public of the adverse effects of racial discrimination.

Branch Profile

The Norwich branch of the NAACP has over 60 members, in addition to it's active Robertsine Duncan Youth Council. Our focus is to work within the mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, with a particular focus on the residents of Norwich and the surrounding New London County area.
